Our mission

The construction industry is at a critical juncture. Not only the processes on the construction site, but also the processes in the offices have always been resource-intensive. In view of increasing complexity and rising time and cost pressures, this can no longer be managed solely with human resources. Our goal is not just to digitalise processes, but to rethink them, to put people at the centre and to use the findings in the field of artificial intelligence to optimally automate work processes.

We achieve our goal by transforming data into added value. This is our contribution to shaping the future of the AEC sector. Through intelligent data utilisation and the transfer of scientific findings into practice. We increase the efficiency, transparency and productivity of work processes through automation. Fabian Faltin

M.Sc. & Co-Founder

Fabian Faltin is a civil engineer and has always had a great affinity for IT. Over several years in project management with and without BIM at various employers and in research at the Institute for Construction Management and Digital Construction at Leibniz Universität Hannover, his affinity for IT turned into a passion for digitalisation. In the process, he discovered the potential of machine learning, commonly known as ‘artificial intelligence’, for the digitalisation of the construction industry. At smaecs, Fabian is primarily responsible for the software development of AI systems for process optimisation and automation. He is also responsible for general business processes.

Jan-Iwo Jäkel

M.Sc. & Co-Founder

Jan-Iwo Jäkel studied civil engineering at the TH Nuremberg and the University of Duisburg-Essen. He is currently doing his doctorate at RWTH Aachen University in the field of digitalisation of infrastructure systems and is completing a second master's degree in business informatics. In the past, he has also gained practical experience as a consultant for digitalisation, BIM manager and in construction and project management in the national and international construction industry. Jan has been working on the topic of artificial intelligence for several years as part of his research. He also has experience in the use of machine learning methods and generative language models for the transformation of data streams and the establishment of intelligent knowledge management systems. At smaecs, Jan is responsible for the strategic orientation, the development and maintenance of the industry and research network as well as the areas of sales, marketing and product development.

Peyman Zoghian

M.Eng. & Co-Founder

Peyman Mohammed Zoghian holds a master's degree in electrical engineering. After completing his studies, he gained extensive experience in both development and consulting. He also gained valuable expertise as a project manager in large digitalisation projects. As part of his doctoral research at the University of Wuppertal, he is working intensively on the optimisation of processes using artificial intelligence. At smaecs, he is responsible for IT and the technological development of the company.
